Road Open

The road up 9 Mile Canyon to Kennedy Meadows is now open. This provides access to the southeastern portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness via the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Access to the 9 Mile Canyon Road is from Highway 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

As of today, the Forest Service at the Kernville Office expects Sherman Pass to be open in the next couple of weeks. Sherman Pass allows access to the Blackrock Trailhead, which starts on the Sequoia National Forest but transitions to the Inyo National Forest at the wilderness boundary. Stay tune in a couple of weeks to see if it is open.
