The last road access to the eastern side of the Golden Trout Wilderness is now open. Road 16S02 to Horseshoe Meadow, on the Inyo National Forest, provides access to the north eastern portion of the wilderness. It is a popular entry point for those going to Rocky Basin Lakes, Cottonwood Lakes, and the western route over Mt. Whitney. Many of the trips available on this website also start from Horseshoe Meadow.
