Trail Report: Jordan Hot Springs to Redrock Trails

Our second trail report for the season. Thanks Mike for sharing the info with all of us! The trail report below relates to the Inyo National Forest side of the Golden Trout Wilderness.

————————————–

On Tuesday, June 18, my wife & I hiked the loop from Blackrock Trailhead to Jordan Hot Springs, then up along Redrock Creek to Redrock, picking up the trail back to Casa Vieja.

All trails are in good condition except the Jordan – Redrock trail:  it is still suffering from the effects of the fire.  Lots of overgrown brush on the trail, lots of (large) downfall.  We kept losing the trail, sometimes finding it again, sometimes not.

Both of us very scratched up from pushing through the thorn bushes.

A good trip, but tiring.  (we’re age 64 and 65).

River Spring was running about the best we’ve ever seen it.

The purpose of the trip:  look at River Spring, and look for wildflowers.  Wildflowers along Ninemile Creek are right at peak, tiger lilies just coming out at the lowest elevations.  Snow plants near trailhead are at about the best we’ve ever seen.  Also found rare orchids near Redrock.
