SPRINGVILLE, CA – As firefighters finish securing containment lines and meet rehabilitation guidelines set forth by the Sequoia National Forest, crews will begin to be shuttled back to the Incident Command Post. Crews will be flown from the Golden Trout Wilderness by helicopter to begin the process of being released for assignment to new fires. Other crews will remain on the fire line to complete the tasks of mop-up and to minimize the impact of firefighting tactics on the environment.
Incident Commander Matt Reidy said, “A lot of hard work was completed by crews on this fire. I am proud of the efforts put forth by our firefighters in the face of a very challenging situation.”
A portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness remains closed to provide for public safety. More information on the area closure can be found at http://tinyurl.com/jwwlglr.
