Added a stitched together USGS topography map from 1956 to the Maps section. Check out where the roads went and how much had changed. Most of the trails on the map are still a part of the wilderness today while others have faded away.
For those of you that didn’t know the Forest Service used to have Mineral King under their jurisdiction. It wasn’t until decades later Mineral King was transferred over to the National Park Service in 1978. Not familiar with that history? Check out this site for more info. Remember this map is pre-wilderness too, so you will not see any wilderness designation on these maps. Enjoy!
