After calling the district offices within the National Forest, users can still access the Golden Trout Wilderness at some of the most popular entry points. The only roads that are currently closed are entry points via Mineral King and Horseshoe Meadow (Inyo NF). Remaining roads are opened.
Weather conditions can change rapidly, which means the road’s use can too (i.e. open vs. closed). Make sure to check the weather and call at least the day prior, if not the actual day, you plan to go out into the wilderness. Nothing would be more frustrating than finding the gate closed for any reason after all that driving. Be safe!
