Forest Service Road 22S05, known as the Sherman Pass Road, is now open beyond the Cherry Hill Road (22s12). Users can use this road to access Kennedy Meadows from the west. However, road access to the Black Rock Trailhead is still closed at this time.
Kennedy Meadows provides access the southeastern portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness via the famous Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The PCT primarily follows the eastern boundary of the wilderness providing spectacular views of the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
