Are the Trails Still Closed?

trail-closed

It has been awhile now since the Cabin Fire closed trails within the western portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness. Probably an important question being asked with the up and coming holiday weekend is “are the trails open now?” Unfortunately, the answer is no. The trails are still closed. In fact, below is a link to the closure order still in effect. It includes a map showing where the closure is located. Click HERE for the closure order.

There are great alternatives if you still want to go into the Golden Trout Wilderness. There are a few sites one can still go to on the Sequoia National Forest side like the Kern Lakes, Forks of the Kern, Flat Iron loop, or Kern Flat. On the Inyo National Forest side one can visit Jordan Hot Springs, Rocky Basin, Northern Meadows Loop, and many more. Check them out with the menu options at the top of the website.
