The first storm with enough moisture and cold temperatures has arrived bringing snow. As many people are happy to have rain/snow in California, this does mean some roads accessing the Golden Trout Wilderness will close for the seasons. It is too early to tell for most of the roads accessing the area, but there is one closure currently in place.
The Sequoia National Park has closed the Mineral King road for the season. They will not open the road to the public until May of next year, weather permitting. As for Mountain Home State Forest, Inyo and Sequoia National Forests, the roads are still open. However, keep in mind the roads have not likely been evaluated for closure with the recent storm that blew into the area on November 2, 2015.
If you plan to venture out it is recommended you call them for the latest road closures. As soon as the information is received, you can expect updates on the “Access – Roads” page of this site. Stay tuned!
