Roads Begin to Open

Good news for those wanting to get into the Golden Trout Wilderness. Some of the roads are now open providing early access. Here are the list of roads that are now open. All are on the Sequoia National Forest.

  • Lloyd Meadow Road (21S82) is open. This provides access to the Jerkey Meadow and Forks of the Kern Trailheads.
  • Forest Service Road 20S67 is open. This is the turn off from the Lloyd Meadow Road to drive the final few miles to Forks of the Kern TH.
  • Western Divide Highway is open. This allows access to those coming in from the west side of the wilderness to access Johnsondale and the Lloyd Meadow Road.
  • Parker Pass is open. This is for those coming through California Hot Springs to meet up with the Western Divide Highway.

There are still snow drifts and clean up to do on the remaining roads. As soon as they are open, you can expect to see updates on the roads page and a news post.
