Maggie Lakes – Upper Lake 14″+ Trout – 07/2013

There is nothing like heading outdoors for a night, weekend, or week long trip, arrive at a lake and put your line in the water. If this sounds like a good time, then you have come to the right place! The Fishing Spots section is dedicated to letting you know where the fish are for all the lakes in the Golden Trout Wilderness.

Prior to heading out to catch The Big One, you will need to know a few things. First make sure to obtain a fishing license. Then make sure you read the Rules & Regulations regarding where you want to fish, fishing limits, gear restrictions, and more. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife regulates fishing throughout the state, so make sure to check their website.

Some anglers may be interested in the California Heritage Trout Challenge offered by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. All you have to do is catch 6 different forms of native trout from their historic drainages in California and photograph each one. More information can be read HERE.

Interested in fishing, but don’t know where to start? Want to get some local knowledge and find out what bait works the best? Make sure to check out the guided services section.

Below is a listing of all the lakes and if fish are present. A date will follow informing you when the last time it was verified. Please note all information comes from fellow anglers. If you have more recent info, please contact us! You can also buy books regarding fishing in the Golden Trout Wilderness HERE.
