Two more roads are open today; Balch Park and Bear Creek. Both roads allow users to access the western most portion of the Golden Trout Wilderness via the Long Meadow Trail on the Sequoia National Forest side. There are no entry fees required to get into Balch Park and Mountain Home State Forest either. The Long Meadow trailhead is located at Shake Camp. The Long Meadow Trail provides access to the Park, Summit Lake, and to Maggie Lakes.

What trailhead do you recommend using for Maggie Lakes?
If all roads were open I would use the Summit Trailhead off the North Road to get to Maggie Lakes. It is approximately 9 miles of hiking. Going from Shake Camp in Balch Park will take 11 miles.
